A survey on the current status and nursing administrators' attitude to the structure of nursing staff in Shanghai

Abstract
Objective To investigate the current status and nursing administrators' attitude to the structure of nursing staff in different levels of hospitals in Shanghai.Method A questionnaire was used to investigate the current status of nurses' educational level and professional titles in 34 hospitals,as well as 57 nursing administrators' attitude.Results The majority of nurses' educational level and professional title were senior higher school and primary-level professional title,which accounted to 73.63% and 88.27% respectively.The nursing administrators considered that the reasonable structure of nurses staff would be mainly with bachelor degree and associate degree,and with a rational structure of three-level professional titles.Conclusion It is suggested to take measures to increase nurses' educational levels and professional titles,and thereby to promote the development of nursing science.
