Abstract

Under simulated drought stress with 25% PEG-6000,the roots of wheat seedlings were subjected by MGBG(1 mmol/L),D-ARG(1 mmol/L)and L-ARG(1 mmol/L)at two-leaf stage, the results showed that MGBG and D-ARG reduced the relative water content(RWC) of leaves, increased membrane lipid peroxidation, and stimulated growth of leaves and roots.However,L-ARG affected less on the RWC,enhanced the root growth and stimulated lipid peroxidation. These suggested that endogenous polyamine play an important role in the regulation of RWC of leaves, and more, inhibiting of root polyamine production will be not beneficial to maintain water content in leaves.
