Abstract
The speech service coexists with the data service in the combined system of global system for mobile and general packet radio service (GSM-GPRS), which leads to competition on the distribution of wireless channel. However, compared with the traditional GSM system, the GPRS system has the characteristics of burst, discontinuousness, statistic multiplexing and multi-timeslot binding. Thus the capacity analysis of GPRS differs greatly from the traditional GSM system. The capacity calculation shows that the utilization of radio frequency can be improved dramatically by introducing GPRS for a specific traffic loss probability.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
