Abstract

Objective:To analyze the serum level of TGF-β1 in ovarian epithelial cancer patients and their relationships with the occurrence, development and prognosis of ovarian cancer(OC).Methods:Serum levels of TGF-β1 in 63 OC patients and 27 healthy women were measured using ELISA.Results:The serum concentration of TGF-β1 was significantly higher in OC patients than in controls(P0.01);The serum concentration of TGF-β1 was significantly higher at stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ than at stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ(P0.01);There was no difference between the serum concentration of TGF-β1 in OC patients of low-differentiated and that of high-differentiated(P0.05);TGF-β1 level of patients recovering from primary cytoreductive surgery was close to normal. Conclusion:The serum level of TGF-β1 was significantly higher in OC patients, and associated with staging, lymphonode metastasis and prognosis. We suggested that serum TGF-β1 level might be as a new tumor marker for ovarian cancer.
