Abstract

The soybean-oil-based-polyols are prepared via the oxirane ring-opening reaction, and then the soybean -oil-based polyurethane foams are synthesized by soybean polyols reacting with PAPI 27.The epoxidation of soybean oil is carried out using the improved in situ performic acid generation method, and the polyols are prepared via the oxirane ring-opening reaction of epoxidized soybean oil with methanol and distilled water in the presence of fluoboric acid. The epoxidized soybean oil with an epoxide number of 6.7%and polyols with a hydroxyl number of 409 mgKOH/ g are obtained in this study. The TG is used to study the thermal stability of the soybean-oil-based polyurethane and polyether-based polyurethane, and the results indicate that soybean-oil-based polyurethane has a higher thermal stability than polyether-based polyurethane. The results show that the soybean-oil-based -polyols will have a wide application in the industry of PU.
