Abstract
The paper systematicly demonstrates the function of Philosophy by answering the question “ what is philosophy?”, giving definitions scientifically and analyzing philosophy historically. In the paper some logical explanations and refutions are made to make some misunderstandings clear about philosophy and its functions. It is described in the paper that the function of philosophy can be embodied in the following aspects: training of thinking ability, moralization of personal characters and so on. Philosophy can’t exert its function which is not replaceable until it is put into the right place by giving philosophy back to itself and expelling non-philosophy.
