Abstract
Based on the theory of petrolrum system, this article makes an analysis on the formation and evolution process of the Mz petroleum system in the northern part of Liupanshan Basin, as well as the pre-sent characteristics of Mz petroleum system, which guides the petroleum exploration in this area. The Middle Jurassic petroleum system formed in the final phase of the Early Cretaceous is mid-relicit petroleum system, and the Early Cretaceous petroleum system formed in the final phase of Teriary is primary. The structural or non-structural traps about 2 000m deep, which is now structural belt of frontland or central slope, has good prospects for exploration.
