Abstract

To investigate the antiviral effect of compound Zhuqin extract on Vero cells infected with porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV)in vitro, the Vero cells were used as host cells, antiviral activity against PEDV,IC50and therapeutic index TI of the compound were detected, direct inactivation, blocking effect, adsorption assay, penetration assay and reproduction inhibition assay.were conducted to investigate the antiviral effect. The results indicated that the compound Zhuqin extract could inhibit PEDV obviously, the IC50was 17.41mg/L,TI was 23.40.Different concentrations of compound Zhuqin extract showed inhibition effect in the replication process of PEDV,direct inactivation and replication inhibition, the quantity of plaque of PEDV was reduced approximately at C=100mg/L,compared with virus group, the difference was extremely significant(P0.01),cell protection rate was more than 50%at C≥25mg/L.While the difference was no significant until concentration reached 100mg/L in blocking test, adsorption test and penetration test.It is concluded that compound Zhuqin extract could resist PEDV infected Vero cells in vitro, and its main antiviral mechanism might be to inactivate the PEDV directly and inhibit the virus reproduction.
