Abstract

With piecewise linear interface construction, PLIC3D (PLIC in 3-Dimension), a VOF (Volume of Fluid) method in 3-dimension, was studied. Its efficiency was proved by a benchmark, spheric ideal fluid moving with a constant speed; compared with the results from DA3D (Donor-Acceptor in 3-Dimension) by piecewise constant interface construction (PCIC), PLIC3D kepts interfaces smoother and more consistent. Higher accuracy of construction from PLIC than from PCIC was proved. A practical sample, tank dripping, whose free surfaces were traced by PLIC3D, was numerically studied, from which the surface profiles and velocity fields were obtained.
