Li Xiannian's Historical Contribution in the Junction of the First and the Fourth Front Armies of the Red Army

During the long march of the Red Army,the junction of the First and the Fourth Front Armies of the Red Army was of the greatest scale and had a position of vital importance in the history of long march of the Red Army. Li Xiannian,who was the Commissar of the Thirtieth Corps of the Fourth Front Army at that time,played a very important role in this junction. He rushed to Maogong,and did well the preparatory work to receive the First Front Army. His corps became the vanguard for the junction of the two armies. After the junction,he helped the First Front Army to solve the problems of food,clothing and residence from the material angle; condoled and encouraged the First Front Army from the spirit angle; carried out the activity of learning from the First Front Army from the politics angle,and held a series of entertainment activities from the angle of cultural life. He actively implemented the guideline of marching northward set forth by the CPC Central Committee in Lianghekou Meeting,captured Baozuo and opened the northward path to South Gansu. He supported the CPC Central Committee,took the interests of the whole into account,maintained the solidarity of the two armies,stood together with Zhu De,Liu Bocheng and Xu Xianqian,and fought firmly and flexibly against Zhang Guotao's splittism.
