Abstract
Objective To analyze the differences of personnel ratios and blood safety between directed blood donors and volunteer donors. Methods We analyzed and compared the differences of age, sex, educational background and the rates of infectious disease markers between directed blood donors and volunteer donors in Changsha region in 2012. Results Personnel ratios of directed blood donors would not be influenced by the age and education level, while most of volunteer donors were young people aged 18 to 35 years, and the higher education level led to stronger willingness of blood donation. Directed blood donation had higher viral marker rates than volunteer blood donation. Conclusions Directed blood donation has greater risk and should be properly controlled.
