Worldly Wang Anyi——A Comparison with Zhang Ailing

Starting from the view of Zhang Ailing mentioned by Wang Anyi, this article points out that Wang Anyi's own works are also characterized by a worldly feature. Based on a comparison of the two writers, it focuses on an analysis of the manifestation, deep meaning, and causes of Wang Anyi's worldly feature. The article regards that Wang Anyi's worldliness is manifested by her fondness of describing daily lives, the deep reason of which is that her world view is different from Zhang Ailing's. She enjoys the charm of daily life, respects the beliefs of common people and can find the strength of life from within. This helps her construct an aesthetic world whose core is completely different from Zhang Ailing's although their texts are similar.
