Abstract

The removal of Ni2+ cations from artificial wastewater by Ca-bentonite and Na-bentonite of Handan was studied. The effect of adsorption conditions on the adsorption behavior of bentonite was investigated, such as the amount of bentonite, adsorption time,pH value, initial concentration and temperature. The results showed that the equilibrium time of adsorbing Ni2+ cations were 15min.The removal rate of Ni2+ cations increased with the increase of pH,amount of bentonite and time of adsorption.Na-bentonite sorbed more Ni2+ than Ca-bentonite,the removal rate of Ni2+ reached up to 96%.The concentration of wastewater treated by Na-bentonite was 0.825mg/L,which is lower than the national emission standards.
