Abstract
According to the concept of phase noise, this paper analyses the effect of LO(Local Oscillator) signal source phase noise on bit error rate (BER) performance of a phase shift keying (PSK) communication system.A quadrature phase shift keying(QPSK) system example is used to predict the effect of phase noise on BER.Simulation results prove that the phase noise of LO is important in a receiver system.Taking the LO signal source used in engineering as example, the Signal-to-Noise Ratio(SNR) limitation of BPSK or QPSK receiver system due to phase noise and jitter is derived. The research has significance in engineering-oriented application of receiver system.
