Abstract
Objective To assess the anti-tumor efficacy and safety of high-dose-folinic acid and 5-fluorouracil bolus continuous 48-hour infusion in the treatment of advanced cardiac cancer. Methods Twenty-seven patients with advanced cardiac cancer were treated by high-dose-folinic acid and 5-fluorouracil bolus continuous 48-hour infusion. Results There were one complete esporse, ten partial response, twelve no changes and four progressive disease in the series with total response rate of 40.74%. The main side effects included nausea and vomiting, mucositis, bone marrow suppression, alopecia and diarrhea.Other side effects were uncommon. All side effects were tolerable and mild except for nausea-vomiting.Conclusions High-dose-folinic acid and 5-fluorouracil bolus plus 48-hour continuous infusion may be a safe and effective therapy for the patients with advanced cardiac cancer.
