Abstract
Statistical approaches, such as the methods of accumulative anomaly analysis,Kendall's rank verification and ordered clustering, were used in this paper to analyze the change characteristics of runoff and runoff coefficient of the Xinshui River. This paper also estimated the influence of human activities on the runoff. The results show that the intra-annual distribution of runoff is uneven, and the runoff varied from year to year with a change periodicity of 5-6 years. In the middle of 1960s,with the strategies of water and soil conservation put into effect, the underlying surface had a great change under the influence of human activities, the runoff varied obviously, and annual runoff reduced obviously.Comparing with the variation of precipitation, human activity was the main factor of leading to reduction of annual runoff.
