Abstract

Urinary tract infections are serious public health problem worldwide.Strains of uropathogenic Escherichia coli(UPEC)are the primary cause of urinary tract infections.Type 1 pilus of UPEC is a very important virulence factor,widely distributed in UPEC,and mediates its adhesion,invasion and colonization in the urinary tract.The structure,assembly and virulence mechanism of type 1 pilus were reviewed in this paper.
