Abstract

The antibacterial activities and the minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) of the extracts from wild chrysanthemum were determined by agar diffusion method and agar dilution method.Three indexes(OD560,viable count, conductivity) were determined during the incubation to study the effects of wild chrysanthemum extract on the growth curve of Staphylococcus aureus. The results indicated that the diameter of inhibition zones of extracts against S.aureus,Escherichia coli and Salmonella paratyphi reached(27.02±0.45) mm,(20.56±0.43) mm,(17.82±0.36) mm,respectively, while MIC was: 12.5%(v/v) of the extract to S.aureus,25%(v/v) to E.coli,50%(v/v) to S.paratyphi.Compared with the controls, the growth and reproduction of S.aureus are affected by wild chrysanthemum extracts and the cell permeability changed with a different action mode from Midecamycin.
