Abstract
Objective To study the colonic motility, the anor ec tal manometry and rectal visceral perception in irritable bowel syndrome with co nstipation(IBS-C)and functional constipation. Methods There were 52 patients with IBS-C,48 patients with f unctional constipation and 16 healthy controls, they were studied in anorectal ma nometry and a colonic transit test by radiopaque markers. Results There was no difference in rectal resting pressure,an al resting pressure and anal maximumn squeeze pressure among the three groups.T he volume of first sensation and first urge(75.00±34.04 ml,117.31±37.60 ml)in IBS-C patients were significantly decreased compaired with those in the co ntrols(97.14±20.54 ml,138.57±19.94 ml),the volume of first urge and max to lerance(187.92±68.62 ml,252.5±93.40 ml)in functional constipation patient s were significantly higher than those in controls(138.57±19.94 ml,181.43±1 8.34 ml).The pressures of all sensation were significantly decreased in IBS-C patients, compared with functional constipation. The patients of IBS-C and func tional constipation performed a gastrointestinal transit test, some results consi denced to outlet obstructive constipation(OOC),the rate of OOC in pations of fun ctional constipation was higher than in IBS-C,but there was no signicant difere nce. Conclusion Rectal hypersensitivity is popular in IBS-C,hypos ensitivity is an important pathogenesis of functional constipation.
