Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of genistein(GST)on the expression of ceruloplasmin(CP)in cerebral cortex of adult male rats with focal permanent cerebral ischemia. Methods The rats were divided into sham-operation group, ischemia group,GST group and dissolvent control group. The cytometry was used to observe the effect of GST via internal carotid artery injection on the expression of CP in cerebral cortex of adult male rats with focal permanent cerebral ischemia. Results The expression during cerebral ischemia was time-coursed,and which after 6 hours,12 hours,24 hours of the ischemia was lower than that in sham-operation group(P0.05 or 0.01),however,which after 48 hours,72 hours of ischemia was higher than that in sham-operation group(P0.05).The changes of the expression of CP in GST group at different time points were significantly lower than those in ischemia group(P0.01).Conclusion GST can inhibit the changes of time coursed of CP in ischemia, which suggests that GST can protect nerve by relieving the iron-related oxidative stress injury during cerebral ischemia.
