Abstract

Objective: To investigate the association between XRCC1 Arg194Trp polymorphism and susceptibility to lung cancer in Asian populations by conducting a meta-analysis.Methods: Publications addressing the association between XRCC1 Arg194Trp polymorphism and susceptibility to lung cancer in Asian populations were selected from Pubmed,Embase,Cochrane library,Wanfang,CNKI,VIP and CBM databases. Results: According to inclusion criteria, thirteen case-control studies were retrieved with a total of 2629 lung cancer patients and 2956 healthy controls.Meta-analysis results showed no association between XRCC1 194Arg allele(ORArg/Trp+Trp/Trp=1.04,95%CI=0.93-1.15,P=0.50),194Trp carriers(ORArg/Trp+Trp/Trp=1.04,95%CI=0.93-1.15,P=0.50) and 194Arg carriers(ORArg/Arg+Arg/Trp=1.14,95%CI=0.94-1.37,P=0.18) with susceptibility to lung cancer in Asian populations. Conclusion: Although XRCC1 194Trp allele or carriers may lead to reduce capacity of DNA damage repair,XRCC1 Arg194Trp polymorphism showed no obvious association with susceptibility to lung cancer in Asian populations.
