Abstract

The implementation of new mathematics curriculum standards for compulsory education since 2001 has achieved significant results and also faced with challenges. From 2005 a cohort of researchers are appointed to revise the curriculum standards. They made extensive investigations and sought for opinions from various resources. The revised curriculum standards has slight adjustment on layout and structure;adds explanation on target behaviour verb;makes propositions in three learning stages more consistent;puts examples of cases as appendix;makes the discourse of ideas and goals clearer;updates the curriculum content at different learning stages to varying degrees. The revision of curriculum standards is an accumulation of ten years' experience and lessons of reform and will have a major impact on the ongoing educational reform in school education.
