Status Analysis and Development Suggestion on Chinese Railway Based on SPSS

Through SPSS software and principal component analysis,this paper takes dimension reduction analysis on the indexes of freight volume,freight turnover quantity,operating income,fulfilled amount of investment,freight density and speed of China's railway in recent five years(2002-2006),and concludes that the operating ability and scale of China's railway transportation are increasing slowly and its development space is huge;railway transportation is facing the challenge of highway and airline transportation;the ability of railway transportation cannot agree with economic development,and compared with developed countries,our railway construction is far behind.Therefore,our government should take some measures to develop railway transportation and meet the need of logistic and economic development through improving system and regulation,innovating service method of railway transportation and realizing strategic cooper-ation of transportation industry.
