On Effect of the Ancient Yellow River on Enhancing Urban Identity of Xuzhou as Historical and Cultural City in China

Urban identity is an essential part of urban connotation and competitiveness.As Xuzhou′s mother river,the ancient Yellow River not only bears the task of farmland irrigation and flood prevention,but also shoulders the mission of history and culture.After years of development and management,the River has become an ecological landscape corridor and a beautiful scenery line in Xuzhou as historical and cultural city in China,but its historical-cultural value is not discovered and developed fully.From a practical point of view,this paper analyzes the main problems existed in building landscape and shaping culture of the River cultural resources,then puts forward the countermeasures to strengthen the protection and exploitation of the River,and to enhance its status and effect of urban identity of Xuzhou.
