Abstract

Based on the Negel_Schrechenberg(NS) model, a three-lane cellular automata(CA) traffic flow model is proposed to describe the highway traffic under the periodic boundary conditions .In this model, all cars obey the same evolution rules and are allowed to change lane with probabilities. Numerical simulations are presented. The impacts of deceleration probability and lane_changing rate on the traffic flow and lane usage are investigated. It shows that the traffic volume is higher than that of the NS model, and that reducing the lane_changing rate is helpful to the safe of drive. And these results provide some (references) for managing the traffic flow of three_lane traffic system.
