Abstract
AIM: To study the architecture of human plaque biofilm. METHODS: The intact dental plaque biofilm specimen was generated on the tooth surface. The specimens of the biofilms were imaged and analyzed by confocal laser scanning microscope. RESULTS: The plaque biofilm was a complex structure with heterogeneous distribution of cells, matrixs and gaps. CONCLUSION: It was feasible to study the architecture of plaque biofilm by using confocal laser scanning microscope. [
