On the urbanization of the west and the enlightenment the urbanization of China

Firstly this paper analyzes different phases and chacteristics in the process of urbanization the western developed countries,taking the process of American urbanization as a case.Meanwhile,a discussion is conducted concerning the status quo in the urbanization process in our country.The author believes that China's urbanization is experiencing a rapid development,transiting from initial stages to intermediate levels.With reference to the features of the same stages in western countries,the paper combines the real situation in China's urbanization and put forward the following proposal: lay stress on the development and construction of new cities located in outskirts outside urban centers.Besides,the author summarizes the necessity and prospect for the construction of new cities.
