Abstract
Al-Ti and Al-Ni intermetallic compounds were fabricated by friction stir process(FSP),and the preparation temperature was studied.The results show that the temperature in region of FSP increases with the increase of processing pass during the preparation of different alloy systems.The preparation temperature of Ti-Al system is higher than Ni-Al system.The heat produced by friction between stirring rod and product is far greater than the latter.FSP temperature is lower than material melting point,which is a solid multifunctional metal working method.The heat mainly comes from the frictional heat of stir bar and raw materials,intermetallic compounds and exothermic reaction between raw materials.
