Clinical analysis of periodontal status of free-end abutment teeth with precision attachment-retained removable partial dentures

Objective To evaluate the periodontal status of the free-end abutment teeth with two kinds of precision attachment-retained removable partial dentures.Methods Twenty-four patients with Kennedy Ⅰdentition defect were divided into two groups and restored by MK1 attachment or Snap attachment respectively.Periodontal indices were accessed at different stages.Results The periodontal indices of two groups after restoration were higher than those before restoration.The periodontal indices of the group using MK1 precision attachment were higher than those of the group using Snap precision attachment.Conclusion It is indicated that extra coronal attachment has adverse effect on free-end abutment teeth.
