On the Acceptance of the Theme of the Frontier Poetry in Heyueyinglingji in the Tang Dynasty

Heyueyinglingji is a poem anthology compiled in the Tang Dynasty.The extant Hanlinxueshiji,Zhuyingxueshiji,and Guoxiuji all include poems whose theme is about the frontier areas.On these grounds,it may be seen that the compilers accepted poems of this theme in the early period of the Tang Dynasty.24 poems of this theme by 9 poets are included by Yin Pan in Heyueyinglingji and Tao Han and Cui Hao are the highest valued poets followed by Gao Shi and Wang Changling.This proves how Yin Pan accepted these poems in the Tang Dynasty.In addition,7 poems by Cen Shen are in the anthology,but none are about the frontier theme.It is believed that it is that Cen Shen's poems on frontier themes were not valued by Yin Pan rather than that his poems were not spread wide enough.
