Abstract
A state-of-art of study on air sparging(AS) for in situ groundwater remediation is summarized based on analysis of the air flow pattern and mass transfer.The existing problems in the current study are presented,including interactions among groundwater flow,soil media,and air flow patterns,the rationale of the pulsed flow mode,and the conjunction with soil vapor extraction and biodegradation in AS.The prospects of this technique are discussed in terms of technologic improvement and engineering of the optimal design and mechanism study,which can provide guidance for further study and applications.
