Compared study on the treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax with video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and compared with thoracotomy

Abstract

Objetive:To evaluate the application value of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS) on the treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax.Methods:The clinic data of 5 patients undergone VATS and 16 patients with TH were compared.Results:The operative time in VATS group was from 25 to 120min,the averaged time was 80min,and the average hospital day was 10 days.and the average time was 40～90min in TH group,the average time was 60min,the average hospital day was 11 days.Follow-up survey 3 months～4 years,there was no recurrence.Conclusions:The conservative treatment is the main therapeutic method for Spontaneous Pneumothorax while video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery is a preferred method for persistent or recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax.
