Lightning protection design and installation for fiber optic cable link

Abstract

Based on the formation process of lightning and the current distribution regularity when lightning striking earth, the causes for fiber optic cable to be struck by lightning are analyzed. The lightning protection design ideas, such as avoiding from lightning area and lightning places, preventing the cable from inducing lightning, and leading the lightning into earth, are proposed. Finally the lightning protection design and installation method are presented.
