Abstract
Droplets nucleation is the distinctive features of miniemulsion polymerization.During this polymerization processes,the need for mass transfer of the monomers through the aqueous phase is minimized even neglected.Thus,materials that are not easy to be prepared by other polymerization techniques can be obtained,such as superparamagenetic latex particle,high solids low viscosity latexes,encapsulation of inorganic solids.This article deals with the fundamental aspects involved in the preparation and polymerization of monomer miniemulsion.The applications of miniemulsion polymerization are also reviewed.
