Speakable and Unspeakable——On "Tao" and " Word "in "Lao Tsu"

Abstract
As ultimate principle and ultimate being of world,Tao in Lao Tsu is intangible and infinite.Word refers to experiential world,and so it stands tangible.There exist distance and conflicts between infiniteness of and finiteness of word.In order to remove tension between Tao and word,Lao Tsu advances several ways of expression such as symbol and irony,etc.and tries to shak off plight of the unspeakable by changing manner of expressions.However,these ways are all temporary ways.Only by being speechless can we enter into world of Tao.Meanwhile,the thoughts on and Word of Lao Tsu make a profound and lasting influence on Chinese philosophy,literature,science,the mode of thinking,etc.
