Abstract

The effect of Chinese leek on the Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.cubense(Foc4)growth and on the reduction of Fusarium wilt disease were studied using antifungal experiments in laboratory and the artificial inoculation of potted bananas in greenhouse. The results showed that the crude extract of Chinese leek significantly inhibited the growth of Foc4 mycelium, destructed the cell structure of the mycelium, restrained the germination of the Foc4 spores and resulted in death of the spores. As a result in greenhouse, the Chinese leek treatment reduced the disease incidence and disease severity index by 70% and 86.9% for 'Baxi'(AAA) variety, and reduced the disease incidence and disease severity index by 76.7% and 93.4% for 'Guangfen 1'(ABB).The findings revealed Chinese leek had high antifungal and control effects on Foc4 and Fusarium wilt.
