Abstract

The interactive effects of lanthanum(La)(0.00~5.00 mg/L) and lead(Pb)(0,10 and 100 mg/L) on various levels in nutrient solution on plant growth as well as the accumulation of Pb and La in Brassica juncea var.crispifolia were investigated. In this experiment,La had no significantly beneficial effects on root elongation and shoots growth of the seedlings. In addition, solutin with≥1.00 mg/L of La inhibited root length.Pb reduced the concentration of La in roots.Pb also reduced La content in shoots when the levels of La in solution was ≤1.00 mg/L.No effects of La were found on Pb uptake and accumulation under the low level of Pb(10 mg/L) exposure. However,La depressed the accumulation of Pb in roots.Combination of 100 mg/L Pb and 5.00 mg/L La stimulated the translocation of Pb and La from roots to shoots.La competed with Pb in cell wall of roots.
