Abstract
The numerical approximation method with basis of polynomial can be used to fitting the probability density function with restriction of expectation and high degree moments of limit state function. In this paper, the moments are divided by numerical integral. In the view of engineering practice, the examples show that the approximation method is a valuable approach in calculating the failure probability and reliability index of the structure components.
