Abstract

The reaction enthalpy of coordination reaction of ytterbium chloride with glycine is determined by solution calorimetry in an isoperibol reaction calorimeter. The calormetric solvent is the solution of hydrochloric acid (2 mol·L -1 ), and a new thermochemical cycle is designed. According to the results, the values of Δ rH m θ (298.15 K) =1.073 kJ·mol -1 and Δ fH m θ(Yb(Gly) 3Cl 3·3H 2O,s,298.15 K)= -3 599.13 kJ·mol -1 are obtained.
