Analysis of Environmental Effects During Urbanization of Wuhan City

Abstract

Use the data of Wuhan city from 1989 to 2008,we select the proportion of nonagricultural population,that is urbanization rate,as urbanization index and total volume of waste water discharged,total volume of waste gas emission,volume of industrial solid wastes produced as environment pollution index.Then urbanization rate and environment pollution index are coupled respectively through regression models,in order to explore the impacts of urbanization course to urban environment.The research shows that Wuhan urbanization level was significantly correlated with the urban environment for recent twenty years.With the increase of urbanization level,the pressure of environment was enlarged overall.Environment situation haven't been improved along with the increase of urbanization level automatically.Based on the results analyzed,countermeasures and suggestions are put forward to promote the coordinated development of economy and environment of Wuhan City.
