Abstract
Objective: To study the therapeutic effect and safety of three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy(3DCRT) in patients with esophageal carcinoma. Methods: One hundred and twenty four cases with esophageal carcinoma were randomly divided into control and obserriny group,62 patients in each group.Patients in contol group were treated by conventional radiotherapy in 2Gy/f,5 fractions/W,to a total dose of DT 60~66 Gy/7W.Patients in observing group were first treated by the same conventional radiotherapy to a dose of DT 20Gy and then treated by 3DCRT in 2 Gy/f,5 fraltions/w,to dose of DT 60~66Gy/6.5W.Clinical complain at the end of radiotherapy, barium X-ray of esophago and changes of CT imaging and toxico-adverse effects were compared and evaluated between two groups. Results: Complete remission rate and total effective rates were 74.2% and 98.4% in observing group respectively, corresponding to 56.5% and 85.0% in control group,There was significant difference between the two groups(P0.05);Survival rates in 1,2 and 3-year were 79.0%,58.1% and 41.9% in observing group, corresponding to 61.3%,30.6% and 24.2% in control group(all P0.05);There was no significant difference in radiation toxicities between two groups(P0.05).Conclusion: The therapeutic effect of three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy for esophageal carcinoma is superior to conventional radiotherapy, and radiation toxicities could be endured.
