Abstract

Aimed at the non-overflow dam of key water conservancy project of Three-Gorge,the model of stress and displacement of the dam's cross-section was investigated experimentally. The strain and displacement of the model were tested with static strain measurement system DH3816 and microdistancer, respectively. The measured data was processed, analyzed, and plotted as characteristic curves. It was shown by the investigation result that, within the upstream side of the dam, there was remarkable phenomenon of tensile stress concentration with a maximum at the dam's foot.Meantime,a greater vertical compressive stress occurred within the downstream side of the dam with a maximum at the dam's toe. These maximums, however, were all lower than the tensile and compressive strength of the concrete of dam's body and foundation. The displacement path took the form of parabola, the dam body remained in the elastic condition, and the operational state of the dam was normal in general.
