Investigation On The Usage Of The Sustained/Controlled Release Tablets Of Our Hospital

Objective To provide the clinic reference to the better usage of the sustained/controlled release tablets via investigation of the practice in our hospital.Method Analyze the use of the following 6 kinds of medicines by selecting 3000 pieces of medical records among all the hospitalized records of our hospital during March - May2005:Theophylline Sustained-Release Tablets, Nifedipine Controlled Release Tablets,Isosorbide Mononitrate Sustained.Release Capsules,Potassium Chloride Controlled Release Tablets, Carbidopa and Levodopa Controlled Release Tablets,Ibuprofen Sustained-Release Capsules.Result The fre- quency of taking these 6 common sustained/controlled release tablets is as follows (from high to low): Theophylline Sustained-Release Tablets 19.7%;Nifedipine Controlled Released Tablets14.8%;Potassium Chlo- ride Controlled Release Tablets 10.9%;Isosorbide Mononitrate Sustained Release Capsules9.7%;Carbidopa and Levodopa Controlled Release Tablets 6.6%;Ibuprofen Sustained-Release Capsules4.8%.Conclusion Generally, in our hospital we could use the suitable sustained/controlled release tablets in the correct and proper way. But there are still some improper uses of such medicines, such as overfrequency, overdosage and breaking tablets into pieces.
