The Downfall of Qin Dynasty: the Absence of Social Cohesive Force

Abstract

It is traditionally believed that the downfall of the Qin Dynasty results from tyranny. But this explanation is not sufficient to tell why the Qin Dynasty was so short lived. This paper makes a careful study of the administrative politics and proposes that the Qin Dynasty lacked the public recognition for its political system, religion and policies for minorities. So the absence of social cohesive force is supposed to be the principal cause of the downfall of the Qin Dynasty.
