Abstract

Objective:To establish a set of suitable and reliable methods and to study the distribution of HBV genotypes.Methods:Type-specific primers were designed, and type-specific primers PCR was used to genotype the HBV strains. Results:A total of 218 out of the 238 strains were genotyped.Among them,49(68.3%) cases were genotype B(male 69.3%,female 65.3%),63(28.9%) cases were genotype C(male 28.3%,female 30.8%),6(2.8%) cases were mixtures of genotype B and C(male 2.4%,female 3.8%).No genotype A,D,E,F,G and H were found. Conclusion:Genotype B is the most dominant type for HBV strains and there is no relationship between the gender and HBV genotypes.
