Abstract
The orientation of future Nantong should be conducted on the basis of the theory of metropolis and their extending areas,location theory,theory of comparative advantage and symbiosis theory.The approaches for Nantong to realize its orientation can be some of the following,namely,to establish a three-dimensional traffic network with the assistance of ports,cross-river passages and information technology,to integrally analyze the present situation of industrial development in the Yangtze River Delta,to re-adjust and optimize the industrial structure,to learn domestic and overseas experience of urban development,to inherit Mr.Zhang Jian's concepts of urban building,and to establish a city of distinctive local features.
