Abstract

Based on the chemical composition analysis, fracture morphology observation and micro-area elemental analysis on the fracture surface of broken bolt,it reveals that the de-hydrogen process was not conducted adequately after the surfaces of high strength steel bolts were plated with cadmium. The bolt happened delayed fracture of low stress level. It brought forward precautionary measures and provided an important basis to the follow-up product design.
