Abstract
South Korea enjoys a long history of the Yi studies. In as early as the Han dynasty (206 BCE-220 CE),Confucianism had been transmitted to Korea. Till the Li dynasty (1392-1910),as a part of the Yi studies, studies of the Yi diagrams had arrived to fairly high level. The representative figure is Quan Jin (1352-1409) who made a diagram uniting heaven,humanity,heart/mind,and nature into one entity under influence of ZHOU Dun-yi's (1017-1073) Taiji Diagram. The contour of Quan's diagram is similar to Zhou's and much like a figure of man, reflecting the foundation of Taiji (Grand Ultimate),complimentarrity of Yin and Yang, and unity of heaven and humanity. Particularly,Quan's diagram takes ethics and heart/mind issues into its system and surpassed his predecessors' achievements. Therefore,in the process of the fusion of Chinese and Korean cultures of the Yi studies, there are not only leaning and assimilation, but also creation and surmounting.
