Abstract

The postgraduate education and the degree oriented education in clinical medicine have received unfavorable or even negative comments and criticisms since their coming into existence, which can be attributed to such factors as some false images or misconceptions of the degree-oriented education itself. The existing higher education system in China is not yet perfect. The relationships between degree oriented education, postgraduate education and on the job training have not been straightened out. Their features and functions should be studied and clarified so as to set up desirable training objectives and models and to establish an advanced, scientific and integrated system of medical education, which is in line with the international standard.
