Abstract

With his reproaches against both Qin's savagery and early Han's confusion, Jia Yi tries to regenerate the Rites and Music Culture. Facing political problems in the early Han Dynasty, Jia Yi inherits Confucius and Hsun Tzn's ideological resources and value foundation, fuses the thoughts of Taoism, Faism, the idea of Yin and Tang as well as Moism, and eventually institutes a complete and workable idea of riutal. Based on The New Book, the present paper looks into Jia Yi's Idea of Ritual. From the perspective of philosophical meaning, with the help of Lao Zhuang's Tao and Han Fei's De, his rites acquire metaphysical foundation. Jia Yi's Idea of Ritual has its originality. It has not only paved the way for the integration of Confucianism and Daoism, but also pushes forward the development of Idea of Ritual to a great extent. This in fact has not drawn people's substantial attention in the world.
